Retrospect

Now it comes back to me

Piece by piece

In lovely retrospect

A touch

A word

A smile

Falling like snowflakes

One by one

In my memory

Gently

Surprising me again

* * *

Once again, I don't remember who this poem was about. It's dated October 14, 1972, so it must have been a date that I had early in my first semester of college. The only person I remember having a date with, that early on, is Paul Kee.

Here is his picture in the 1976 Harding yearbook.

As I recall, he was very nice, and we had a nice time together. But then we were sitting in one of the famous Harding swings...

... when he told me what his future plans were. Keep in mind, this was our first date. But he apparently was a whole lot more serious than I was, because he came right out and asked me if  I would be willing to be a missionary in Africa, because that's what he was going to do after he graduated.

So I guess he figured he wouldn't waste any more time on me, since being a missionary in Africa was the very LAST thing in the world I wanted to be! (I hope I used kinder words than that when I told him my answer.)
